Last night Emmah and I went to see Drive By at the Gaelic Club in Sydney. They had a gig with MXPX, Houston Calls and Hit the Lights.

We arrived at the venue at about 7pm. We were at the front of the line and Houston Calls we out talking to some chicks at the very front of the line. Shortly after this Drive By walk up the street and start to go in the door, so Emmah and I yell "Drive By!" and they went "Yeah!" haha.....

We went it just after that and who is standing in side.......DRIVE BY! Because the venue was more like a club/pub, it was really relaxed and all the bands were walking around. It was really tiny inside and no barricade so you were right on the stage.

ANYWAY...................back to Drive By.....

We walk closer to the boys and i said 'Todd!' and he said "hi", i shook his hand and asked for an autograph. We got talking about little things like, Soundwave, the My Chem tour and the guitar he used for the tour (i own the same guitar). He called over the rest of the boys and i got all their signatures. I asked Todd if they were selling cd's and he said "Yeah....do you want one now or later?" and i said "oh, i'll grab it later" and he said "Do you want a sticker?" and we're like YEAH!. So he reaches into his bag and gets out a Drive By sticker. They then had to go and do some stuff as the first band came on. I went to get a Drive By t-shirt and then headed to the front of the stage ready for their set.

The first band finished and the boys came on stage to set up. Yes, that's right, they set up their own gear and did their own soundcheck hehe We were all 'Yeah!' and the boys would just smile at us haha. There was a girl next to us with a couple of guys and they were there for Drive by too. So we got talking and stuff....the guys were whistling at the boys while they were setting up and they just laughed haha....was cute. The shit thing was that there was a sound problem and the sound guy was trying to get the vocals to work. So we had to wait, and wait, and wait as the boys paced the stage and many attempts by Todd to soundcheck the mic. Eventually, it worked and everyone cheered. Todd said, "hi, we're Drive By and we're going to play half a song for you tonight" LOL.....since they had lost so much time on soundcheck! But the show went ahead and they kicked ass. Todd and the boys kept looking at us throughout the set. We held up our Drive By t-shirt and Todd said "Yeah, we see you!" haha......Todd pointed to us as he sang the chorus "You're not alone". That was the coolest thing ever!!!! Todd, pointing saying you're not alone hahaha such a teenie moment LMAO. The boys continued with an awesome set and spoke about them being from 'the states' which Todd said he hates saying but alot of people say they are from 'The States' hahaha.....he said they're from NJ and Fitz is from New York but they like to say he is from NJ... LoL. Fitz threw out a bandana he had in his back pocket and i got that! I got a stack of awesome pics! Because we were that close to the stage i could have strummed his guitar! haha

After the set the boys came back down into the crowd after packing up and Jae gave me the set list (woot!). It was a little crumpled but AWESOME! They finished doing what they had to do and came out with a box of CDs and we went up the back of the room and bought one.......for $5! So cheap....they could have sold it for more easily. They had a silver pen and signed the CD for us. I got some myspace shots with Jae and Chris (my camera ate the one with Jae :'( ). Fitz and Todd were somewhere...i don't know haha. So we chatted there for a bit and watched Hit the Lights. Jae says "we'll be back",...he and Chris then went up stairs to the under 18's section to flog some CDs.

The next band came on and we walked up to the front of the stage and saw Jae carrying some stuff out the back. I knew there was an alley behind the venue so Emmah and i went around the back to find Jae, Chris and Fitz sitting on their gear and on the back of the truck smoking and talking. We walked up and starting chatting. We explained we were only there to see their set. They really appreciated that.

I asked Fitz if he could sign the CD for me as i only had Jae and Chris'. I said so you have the silver texta still? Fitz just looked at me confused....and i'm like "the texta?......umm.....*holds the cd up to show autographs*" and Chris says "She wants the pen!" hahaha we laughed...i said "how funny....language barrier.. even though we all speak English" hehe.

We then had the most random conversations.....

For example.....there was a massive cockroach on the ground just inside the back door for the venue. Emmah kinda freaked at it and the boys didn't believe it was a cockroach coz it was so big haha...they were facinated by it and we made lots of jokes about putting a saddle on it and trying to step on it and it prolly would be like "fuck off" (because of it's size) haha. They then went on to explain the cockroach on Chris' hotel window the previous night and how big it was. Fitz was laughing coz he said Chris had a torch and was searching the room for more coz he hates them lmao.

Another random........Jae is often mistaken for Steve-O. haha...which then led to talking about Jackass episodes haha. I asked Jae if we are to call him Steve-O from now on? He laughed.

Conversation lead to discussions about flying in planes. I said i hate it and try to imagine i'm somewhere else. Fitz said he hates flying too. They all agreed the flight wasn't too bad because they slept and watched movies most of the trip. I said that we're grateful they're in Australia because we're so far away. I said that is why we have street teams to promote bands so they come back to visit our country (as well as promote the band in general). They said they love it here and have heaps of friends back home who are jealous. They're hoping to come back to Australia later in the year *fingers crossed*

We spoke about Soundwave and i said how good they were and we talked about the rain and stuff. I asked if they met Deftones and they didn't. I told them about my signing tent fiasco trying to meet them (refer to Soundwave Blog). I said why they didn't do a signing in Sydney like they did in Brisbane? Fitz and Chris said they did do a signing. I said WHAT! I was there all day and you weren't on the list. They laughed and said they just came down and did their own signing in the tent hahaha. I was pissed that i missed them! But who cares right? Here i was spending an enormous amount of time with them that kicked ass over any shitty signing tent experience haha......damn signing tent program.

We talked music and about 'Hate Everyday Without You Kid'. Fitz seemed excited about their being a secret song on the CD. He said that it's 11 minutes and 15 seconds on the last track. Which is Todd's birthday they informed me haha. Fitz said it's my favourite song. hahaha He can predict what my fav song will be. Jae said, "she won't know that!" haha

We spoke about My Chem.....well, they brought up My Chem. Talked about the tour in the UK and about the boys in general, how nice they are and that they've helped them alot. They said that when they toured in the UK, my chem fans were chanting Drive By because they knew they were supporting My Chem. So i think the boys are grateful for the exposure they've receieved through My Chem. I asked if they were suprised people knew who they were in Australia. They said 'yeah!'.....and we spoke about street teams and how the one in the states started etc. We said we were really appreciative of them talking to us and they said they like talking to fans. I said you'll be really big next time you're here and you'll play at the Hordon and we wont get to talk to you. I then said 'OOOOH....but like you know what the Hordern is LMFAO" and they laughed (Hordern Pavilion is a big venue in Sydney). Fitz said "oooh yeah, the Hordern" hahaha being sarcastic. Chris said he never wants be in the position where he can't talk to fans. Even if they become huge he still wants to make the effort to meet people. Jae said the only time they won't is when they are worried about their safety or something.

I had so much stuff in my hands that i had to rearrange things and Fitz laughed coz he hates when that happens. Jae said it's like you'd need another hand hehe. I said to Fitz i had his bandana and if he really wanted to throw it away or did he want it back....and he said well if you dont want it.....and Chris said, "it probably smells like sweat!"...Jae said "it probably smells like pocket" (referring to how it was oringinally in his pocket). I went to smell it and Fitz said "i'll smell it if you want" and i said nah it's ok.......*sniffs*.....it smells ok. (actually smells great....like guys aftershave. Maybe coz it was tied with a knot and he could have had it on his head earlier?).

Todd came out and the boys started to close the doors on the truck. They got the pen out and Todd signed it and said thanks again. I then asked if i could be a pain and get a photo. He said sure.....we had a photo and then i said to Fitz....OH! i need a picture with you! And he said "well we better do that then". I turned the camera on and he had his arm around me waiting and Emmah says the screen isnt on. Duh, i forgot to select the picture setting. Fitz goes "oooh you just killed it!" (referring to the moment) and said "ooh sorry that was false hope"....we got into position again and took the photo. We had a look at it and he said it has his fluffy hair in it. And i told him i liked his hair haha.....

Emmah and i said thanks again and it was awesome spending time with them and we hope they come back really soon! They said thanks to us and Fitz asked us what our names were, we told him and then he asked if we had myspace, which we do, then asked have we added them on My space? And we said yeah. He then said "our personal ones?" and I said oooh i dont think i have. He said we're the top 3 on our myspace and told us to add them *flutters like a love struck teenie*

We said goodbye again and went off down the alley....by this time it was 12ish....we went inside to see a couple of MXPX songs and then took off. I saw them at Soundwave and didn't really care about seeing them again haha.

So that's it!!! My Drive By experience :)
I love them a trillion times over after hanging out with them all night!

Yup.....met Gee out the back of the Hordon gig. He signed one of my Ltd Ed pictures. He's great :)
Shame the other boys couldn't come out too. But hey, i go to meet them in NZ anyways :)

I totally met Todd before the gig LMAO...he just walked past the crowd with a hoodie on with his girlfriend and a security guard. I went up to him and said he was doing an awesome job and that i'll be seeing his band when they're next out (which is next month, and i have tickets). He smiled and said thanks. He is heaps quiet though....but still a really nice guy. I'm just glad i was able to say thanks for stepping in for Frank....otherwise the boys may have cancelled!

We (Sharon, Jules and I) got back from the NZ BDO! It was so fucking awesome....

I have finished my reports! oh yes.....the little kidies will be getting their end of year reports in just over a week. Most are good, some....not so good. I'm hoping i have no trouble.

What have i learnt from my first experience writing school reports?!

- BACK UP your work in more than 2 places.

- Think of new and inventive ways to write bad things in a positive way.......so you don't sound mean, and the child doesn't sound like a lil shit.

- Reports suck llama balls.



On a happier note.....it is the 1st December tomorrow and this means the Christmas tree can go up. Yup....i'm putting a tree up in my classroom. It'll be fun

5 my chem shows...yeehaaaa.....so it'll be a total of 7 times seeing my chem (inc. the last time they were here). Gotta love them!

In other related my chem news, I have completed my collection of vinyls. I now will have ALLLLL of them. I ordered "Honey this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us". Damn expensive....i guess because only 500 were pressed. But money aside, i'm sooooo freakin excited. I'm a collect-a-holic when it comes to music hehe

On a lighter note....one of my students drew me pictures of the characters in The Nightmare Before Christmas becuase he saw my Jack Skellington bag <:) *feels stressed yet, loved* (I should mention, it'll be week 6 (in school terms) this week)

I'm mixed emotions at the moment.....

Why? Because i should be doing work and i'm bludging on the comp and playin my guitar, and i should also be cleaning my pig sty of a bedroom!

I am however freaking happy that i have the new Deftones album!! It's been an awesome week....2 of my fav bands have new albums out! (my chem is the other if you hadn't guessed). The new Deftones album seems to be reallllly good. Except for one song that talks about buttfucking and then going.....i'll leave that there, but it finishes saying that's why the English have bad teeth O.o (psycho).

Ummm....i went shopping this morning and i am pleased with my purchases even though i should be saving for spending money in NZ (yep...I wanna buy a Tikki, aint that right Jules!LoL). Today i bought....

- books for school (english and numeracy stuff as well as a few games for my students).
- new Deftones album
- red clutch (i'm a bag-a-holic)
- red skull and crossbones/swords scarf
- Playboy pjs (haha)
- deodorant, yoghurt, white chocolate muesli bars, strawberries.
- petrol

TONIGHT....i have a gig to go to. My friends band, The Loves. They're playin at Hurstville RSL. I'm heaps looking forward to it coz they're playing with a band they idolise....Black Label. I personally have never seen Black Label, but the boys think they're great. I'm loving the fact they have a gig on a Saturday for a change, instead of mid-week!!! Sunday tomorrow + sleep in = Rebecca being one happy camper :) PLUS..next Saturday they are playing World Battle of the Bands FINAL!!! So it'll be party time next weekend. The winner represents Australia in Hong Kong against other countries! I'll be proud of them either way :)

My only dilemma now is.....what do i wear tonight? hahaha.....it's cold :( And i wanna wear fishnets....i guess it'll be airconditioned in the rissole (i mean, RSL LoL)

So i have offically finished organising my Christmas holidays. It's pretty jam packed, which is why i asked the question.....WHAT holiday! I'm going to need a holiday FROM my holidays haha.....i shouldn't complain.

21 DEC 06 - Last day of work (aka school, yay for end of term 4)
23 DEC 06 - Fly to Brisbane for Christmas. First Christmas away from Sydney :(
30 DEC 06 - Fly Back to Sydney
12 JAN 07 - Fly to Auckland, New Zealand to meet Jules and Sharon as we begin the My Chemical Romance tour!
19 JAN 07 - NZ BDO
22 JAN 07 - Fly to Brisbane (again!) to see the My Chem sideshow
23 JAN 07 - Fly home to Sydney to meet up with Jules and Sharon to continue the tour.

So Emma, Greg, Matt and I have just got home from the city. We went for the parade that was being held to help 'promote' the new album for My Chemical Romance. Now i say 'promote' because i think it was far from the truth. We came home feeling like we let my chem down because there wasnt much promoting going on. We met on the stairs of Town Hall and then went to Starbucks. Then walked to Town Hall again. Then to JB HIFI where we handed out some fliers. I wasn't impressed that people were pulling down my chem posters to take home for themself. The idea was to PROMOTE not DE-MOTE! By taking the posters down, it just means less promotion for the album. So selfish! From there we walked to Hyde Park where everyone just sat around on the grass taking photos of themselves!
This is where we felt something had to be done.....Greg and Matt went INTO the traffic and gave people fliers in their cars!!! So proud of the boys! Job well done :) It was the only promoting that actually happened. It didn't suprise me that some of the paraders took off and left the group. It was then that our 'leader' returned and people were praising her efforts. I mean....yes, she may have set the date and time, but leaders are to lead a parade not walk people to a park and sit. So much more could have been done to spread the word! Even if we handed fliers out all afternoon....that would have been better than sitting in a park. And for the quiz that was done.....great effort.....easy questions though. I think today was more of a 'get to know your my chem fans' rather than PROMOTE THE BLACK PARADE. The photos may look impressive (eg. the fake march photo that i chose not to be in), but i feel i let my chem down today by not being more of a proactive fan.
I do however, feel good about all the promoting Emma and I have done (eg. last week, internet, etc). We'll be going out to promote more often i think :)

On a lighter note, I was up at 9am to get The Black Parade!! I'm so in love with this album. I think all the songs are great and i was speechless after hearing it. First impressions......AMAZING!!!!!

Emma and I have just come home from promoting the new album and the parade next week. We went to Penrith, Mt Druitt, Blacktown in Sydney. No luck finding people in Blacktown....
BUT!!!
We did hand out fliers to people in Penrith, found some eager people who took some fliers to give to their friends (hopefully all will come next weekend). We even got 2 shops to put up posters in their stores!! One of those will put in the shop front window :)
I went to Mt Druitt and put fliers in a music store......stuck the fliers in the CD's under 'My chemical romance'. Their CD's were actually sold out, which is a great sign :)

Feels good to have spread the My Chem word. Even if we only get an extra 10 people turn up next week....we'll be happy :)

Last night i spoke to my new found best friend haha Jules from good ol NZ. Was so much fun talking to her on the phone and chatting to someone who loves My Chem as much as i do!!

Sharon is also my new friend who is a nut bag MCR lover like myself. And i'm looking forward to chatting to her on Wednesday :)

These girls are kick ass and i'm loving all the My chem hype!!! We're gonna have an awesome time on our own personal My Chemical Romance Tour!!! My stops include.....NZ, Brisbane, and back to Sydney. I'd do Melbourne also if i didn't have to go back to work!!! :'(

okay...so i joined Live Journal so i could keep up to date with aus_mcrmy :)
There is so much excitment going on with the new album and i'm busy organising tickets and flights for the upcoming tour in January!

I'm so excited about it all and i'm doing anything and everything i can do help show my support for the band :)
